God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1
I can bet that we all get into trouble or have some tribulations many times, or rather calamity strikes unexpectedly. Immediately we are in trouble; we shift into panic mode trying to get solutions from left, right and center. One thing we forget is that we have an ever-present help in God himself. We bypass God and ignore him because of our unbelief and fears, yet he is the God of all humankind who can handle any situation that is presented to him. If you take refuge in God, he will deliver you and not let you be put to shame. God gives you the strength you need to push on while in trouble; he is the calm in your storm. In Isaiah 43:2, the LORD promises that through the waters he will be with you when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you, and when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.
I once had a very challenging time of my life when my mum fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. Two of my brothers also fell ill at the same time, one was at home and the other in boarding school. During that same period, I acquired a piece of property only for a certain lady to come and claim the same property. At work, there was a lot of pressure. I was baffled and in disarray. I did not know how to handle all this. I needed strength to cope with all this. No effort I could put in would help me. I could only turn to God and surrender everything to him. And indeed, God is an ever-present help; he did not disappoint. My mum was discharged a few days later, my brothers recovered, and the lady claiming the property I acquired yielded it to me. God heard my cry for help, and he delivered me.
Our God is forever faithful and whenever you find yourself in a tough situation, do not hesitate to ask for his divine intervention. God is telling you today not to be afraid, for he is with you. Let him be the first option you seek before looking elsewhere. He will never leave you nor forsake you. You might be in a problematic or burdensome situation today and are tempted to think that God has forgotten you but worry not because you can cast all your burdens unto him. Trust God with your fears today and see the deliverance God will give you.

Dear God, thank you for being an ever-present help in trouble. I surrender all my problems to you today that you may deliver me from them. Amen.
