There was a time when suffering didn’t scare you. In Hebrews 10:32-35, the writer calls believers to remember their early days, days of public reproach, affliction, and the plundering of property. Yet through it all, they stood. They didn’t retreat. They didn’t deny Christ. They endured with joy, knowing they had a better and lasting possession waiting in heaven. The danger wasn’t persecution anymore, it was drifting. Comfort had become a greater threat than suffering. So the command is urgent: don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. You need endurance. Remember who you were when the fire burned hottest, and let that memory rekindle your courage for whatever comes next.
