Why Pray if God is Sovereign?

An unshakable faith in God’s sovereignty should be a source of comfort. As Psalm 115:3 reminds us, “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.” That means everything, from the tiniest atom to the vast expanse of the universe, is under his control. Praise God that this is all true! But then it all begs the question, “Why pray if God is sovereign? Doesn’t he already know our thoughts” (Psalm 94:11)? My hope in writing is to show you that praying to a sovereign God is not pointless, but is, in fact, something we should take great delight in. Why?
