WHO DO PEOPLE SAY I AM – PART 2

MATTHEW 16:13

The Deity of Christ has been debated upon for many years. This has been a stumbling block to many people and also a blessing to those who believe it. Just like the Jews struggled with Jesus assertions about himself so does some religions struggle with the question of who was Jesus really? Was he just a great man in history, was he the expected Messiah of the Jews, was he our savior? What does God say about Jesus? Who did the disciples say He is? What did Jesus say about himself? What does scriptures say about Jesus Deity?

  • What does God call Jesus in Hebrews 1:8?

  • What does the Bible say about Jesus in John 1:1-5?

  • What did Jesus claim about himself in John 10:30-33?

  • Why did John write his gospel as per John 20:30-31 and what is the significance of his writing to our lives?

  • In Matthew 3:16-17, state the different personalities in the God-head? What does this scripture imply about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit?

  • What do we learn about Jesus relationship with the Father from John 14:8-10?

  • From the close relationship of Jesus and his disciples, what was Peter’s conclusion about who Jesus was in Matthew 16:13-16?

  • State some of the attributes of God that he doesn’t share with any person eg. He is Omnipresent. Then find in the scripture whether Jesus possess those qualities e.g. Jesus says in Matthew 28:20 that he will be with us to the very end of the age meaning that he is omnipresent.

Please send us your responses to these questions above. We would love to hear what you’ve learned and how this has impacted you…
