Giving Up Is Not An Option!

8. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your fellow believers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. – 1 Peter 5:8-10

Imagine a lion chasing a gazelle. The gazelle can either chose to fight for its life or give up running and surrender to the lion. From the above scripture, we will give a four reasons why you should not and never give up no matter the challenges you could be encountering.

  1. In verse 9 the scripture has asked us to resist the devil. God will not come down to resist the devil for you. This is something you’re to do. Now he will empower you to do it, but you must do it. Choose to stand firm in the faith regardless of what you are going through. If the Bible was to be rewritten, how would you like people to read your story?

  2. The second reason you cannot afford to give up is that you are not the only one going through those challenges. Your fellow believers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. If others are making it in their teenage life, why not you? If others have stood for God even at the threat of death, why not you? If other youths are rising into greatness yet we are in the same time zone, country, generation and so on why not you?

  3. God himself has promised to restore us and make us strong, firm and steadfast. It is always encouraging to know that whatever we are going through, God is together with us. He has promised that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

  4. The fourth reason is that suffering or whatever stage you are in life is just for a little while. No situation is permanent. You are only a teenager for a season, and you cannot afford to shorten your life at that stage.

From the above scripture, I have always found every reason to fight and stand firm. I have to be among the number when the saints go marching in. I cannot afford to be left behind.
