IGNORANCE
Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Do you know what you are getting into? How much time have you taken to learn about relationship or marriage? Do you know the Biblical position for married people and how God expects them to raise their children? How many books have you read or seminars have you attended regarding the subject of relationship and marriage? Do you know who men are or women are and what they need? Have you taken the time to learn about parenting? What do you do about solving conflicts in relationships apart from breaking up an engagement? Have you taken time to know how to deal with financial issues in a relationship before you get there? How do men and women communicate since we are all different?
I believe there is wisdom in learning from those who have gone ahead of you in life; learning through your own experience might be too painful at times that you may never recover. Again, you cannot reinvent the wheel. You will not be the first person struggling with the issue of finances in a relationship, for instance, so you better learn from others before you get there.
Many young people always want to learn while on the job. When someone says they love us, we lose our head and only remain with our hearts to help us in making a decision. Both the heart and the head are critical and should always function together. The heart should pump some oxygen to the head to help it think soberly before making a decision. A majority of young people don’t want to work hard to make their relationship work. Ignorance has affected many relationships than even the spirituality of the couple. Whether you are born again or not, if you do not know how to use the tools you have to change a flat wheel on your car, you will not be able to move. Knowledge is irreplaceable, and if it is too expensive for you to gain, then try ignorance.
A Priest is a representative of God to the people. God himself does not want to be represented by ignorant people, and hence, knowledge is vital even to God. God’s people perish due to ignorance. Purpose to study about marriage and relationships, and you will lighten the load and make the journey enjoyable. You need to ask God for wisdom, which theologians have defined as the correct application of knowledge.
